By Air: Biju Patnaik Airport situated at Bhubaneswar about 60 km from Puri is the nearest airbase from here. This domestic airport teeming with complete modern facilities is undergoing the process of being upgraded as an international airport. The major airlines operational here include Air India, IndiGo, Jet Airways, Sahara, JetLite, Deccan and Kingfisher Airlines. They provide a good connectivity with many important cities of India like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Port Blair, Vishakhapatnam, Goa, Varanasi, Raipur, Nagpur, Bagdogra, Srinagar etc. to reach Puri from Biju Patnaik Airport, tourists can either rent a cab which cost around Rs 900 or take the state transport bus.

By Rail: Puri Railway Station, located at Baula Matha Sahi about one km north from the heart of the city is a major terminus on the East Coast Railway rout. The chief trains that ply from here are Kolkata Puri Howrah Express, Jagannath Express, Utkal Express, Srijagannath Express and Purushottam Express etc. The destinations that these trains cover are New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Okha, Ahmedabad, Tirupati etc. The very moment you come out of the station, the cycle rickshaw and auto rickshaw walas will very aggressively try to fish you and offer to reach you to the hotel you have booked. By Road: Puri has two major bus terminuses. One of them is placed at Baramunda and the other is stationed opposite State Ashok Hotel. The one near Gundicha Mandir on Grand Road is the main bus stand of the city. Direct buses run by Orissa Road Transport Corporation from Puri will reach you to several destinations like Bhubaneswar, Konark, Kolkata, Cuttack, Vishakhapatnam, and many places in and around Orissa. To reach Konark from Puri you can also opt for the mini buses that ply every day. Bhubaneswar is placed about 60 km from Puri and Cuttack is situated nearly 32 km from here. Apart from the buses, taxis are also available to reach Puri from these cities. Orissa Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) organizes sight seeing tours in Puri which take you around in deluxe buses.
