By Air: The nearest major airport from Patiala is Chandigarh Domestic Airport which is located about 67 kilometers away. The major airlines that are operational at this airbase include Indian Airlines, Kingfisher Airlines, Jet Airways, GoAir, Air Deccan and MDLR. Directs aircrafts from Chandigarh ply to Delhi, Mumbai, Srinagar and Jammu. Goa, Kolkata, Ranchi, and many other cities can be accessed from here through connecting flights. The Chandigarh Domestic Airport will shortly be upgraded as an International Airport. Tourists can either avail a rented cab or board an easily available state transport bus from Chandigarh to reach Patiala.

By Rail:Patiala Railway Station, located about 3 kilometers from the Qila Mubarak provides connectivity to and from Patiala via rail rout.
