How To Reach Mysore

By Air: The nearest major airport from Mysore is ‘Bangalore airport’ situated 139 km away near Devanahalli. Bangalore is well connected with almost all major Indian cities via air. Air India-IC, Air India, Go Air, IndiGo, Go Business, Jet Airways, Jet Airways Konnect, JetLite, Kingfisher, Kingfisher Red, SpiceJet are some of the airlines that provide service from and to Bangalore airport. Some international flights too fly from here.
Newly inaugurated airport of Mysore is comparatively smaller. The cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai are connected via air through this airport.
By Rail: From ‘Mysore Junction’, the main railway station of the city, daily trains are available for Bangalore. Shatabdi Express is the fastest and the most convenient train to reach Chennai from Mysore. This train will take you to Bangalore merely in 2 hours and Mysore - Chennai distance is covered in 7 hours. All the coaches of Shatabdi Express are air-conditioned and the fair includes breakfast, all the meals of the day and water.
Tippu Express, Chamundi Express, Yeshvantapur-Mysore Express are some of the daily trains connecting Bangalore. Swarnajayanthi, Sharavati, Kaveri Express and other daily and weekly trains connect Mysore to many major cities of India like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, Tirupati, Ajmer, Jaipur, Mangalore etc. A new track between Mysore and Bangalore is under construction and it will reduce the traveling time by half an hour.
By Road: From ‘Majestic’ the central bus station of Bangalore city, KSRTC buses run every 10 minutes to Mysore. A tourist can take either an ordinary bus or the cozy and comfortable ‘RAJAHANSA’ Volvo. Buses to Mysore are also available from Satellite bus Terminus situated in Bangalore on Mysore road.
If you have your own vehicle, you can take the four lane Bangalore Mysore highway. Mysore is about 140 km from Bangalore by road and it takes 3 to 3 and half hours to reach.
