By Air: The nearest Airbase to Munnar is at Kochi, that is approximately about 130 km away.

By Rail: The nearest Railhead to Munnar is at Ernakulum Junction near Kochi. This is part of a wide network of railway destinations like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Mangalore and Bangalore.

By Bus: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation connects Munnar to all the other cities of the state. Private bus service also plies quite frequently between Cochin and Munnar.

Bus: Government Buses are easily available throughout the city. They are inexpensive and quite frequent in service. Fares in a Government bus can range from Rs. 5-20, depending upon the distance traveled. However, Munnar being a hill station, a bus ride can be a bit of a bumpy experience.

Auto Rickshaw: This is an easier way of getting around the city. Easy to locate, the autorickshaws mostly run on meter. This makes them cheaper than the taxis.

Local Tour Operators: A number of tour operators are also available in the cities that provide packaged tours to the tourists at a reasonable rate of Rs.500 per person. These tour packages are cheap and convenient as they cover most of the important places of sight seeing.
