How To Reach Mathura

By Air: Agra Air Force Station also known as Kheria Airport of Agra based at the distance of about 59 kilometers from Mathura is the nearest airfield that apart from being a military airdrome also serves Agra and the surrounding areas as a public airport. Even though, commercial flights are not scheduled from the Agra Airport on a regular basis. The new airport which is being constructed on the Mathura Agra Road near Farah will provide connectivity with Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi and Ujjain Airports via air. Indira Gandhi International Airport of New Delhi situated about 162 kilometers from Mathura is the nearest major and completely functional airport. This airport being India’s busiest, largest and most prominent aviation hub provides extremely good connectivity with almost all the major destinations of India and abroad.
Most of the domestic and international airlines cater services here and all the chief destinations viz. By Rail: The city of Mathura being served by four different railway stations is very well connected with all the major destinations of India by train. Most of the trains running between Delhi and Agra stop at Mathura while most of the south and west bound trains also halt at Mathura Junction. Moreover, Mathura Junction is also a leading stopover on the Mumbai – Delhi and Chennai – Delhi rail route. By Road: Mathura, parked along the Delhi Agra National Highway No 2 is very well connected with rest of the state and country via a well established road network of National and State highways and expressways. NH 2 that passes through Mathura later intersects the National Highway No 3 and thus links Mathura with Mumbai. NH 11 and NH 93 that meet at Agra can also be used to reach Mathura. The Yamuna Expressway is connected to Mathura via State Highway no 80 which also joins Mathura with Delhi. Moreover, Taj Express Highway and Mahatma Gandhi Marg are two another routes to reach Mathura via road. Various local, intra state and inter state buses operated by UPSRTC, JnNURAM and Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, MP, DTC, etc state transport corporations ply at the Mathura bus depot. About 120 buses ply at Mathura Bus Depot and direct public and private buses from Mathura are available to Delhi, Agra, Chandigarh, Indore, Gwalior, Meerut, Bhopal, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Kanpur, Haridwar and many other destinations. An intercity bus facility is provided by JnNURAM which operates between Mathura and Delhi and Mathura and Agra. Mathura is located about 59 km from Agra, 158 km from Delhi, 182 km from Gwalior, 192 km from Meerut, 220 km from Jaipur, and so on.
