The 2nd class ticket costs about 35 Rs while the first class ticket costs nearly 200 Rs. Traveling through the winding roads of the Matheran Jungles is certainly a memorable experience. To reach Neral Railway Station from Pune you will have to board a train bound to Karjat and from their get into a train to CST and get down at Neral. By Road: Matheran is located 90 kilometers away from Mumbai and 120 kilometers away from Pune. Tourists can reach Neral from Mumbai or Pune using a train and then hire a cab from Neral to Matheran. The old Mumbai-Pune National Highway No 4 and the Matheran Hill Ghat Road will reach you to Matheran from Mumbai and Pune. The vehicle will be parked at the Matheran Car Parking at the payment of fixed fees and you will have to use manual hand pulled carts, horses or your own feet for the further commute as vehicles are not allowed beyond this point.
