Kerela Tourism Boat races: The great boat races of Kerela are usually held on the 17th January every year. This is purposefully done in order to coincide it with the legendary Elephant march that is normally held between 17th to the 20th January.

Oachirakali: Oachirakkali, or the mock sword fight is one of the premier festivals of Kollam. This art of Oachira is almost as ancient as the temples in Kollam. This place also bears a significant historical connotation, because it was in the grounds of Oachira thatbthe famous battles of Travancore and Kayamkulam were fought between Marthanda Varma, the Maharaja of Travancore and the Raja of Kayamkulam. As a note of remembrance of this battle, Oachirakkali is performed every year on the first and second of Mithunam(June-July)
