By Air: : Kolhapur owns a domestic airport which is located at Ujlaiwadi about 9 kilometers South-East from the Kolhapur city. To reach the airport from the city you can avail a cab that would charge around 300 Rupees. Kolhapur Airport is connected to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport of Mumbai via air. Kingfisher Airlines ply a daily flight from Kolhapur to Mumbai. The ticket between Kolhapur and Mumbai costs around 3000 Rupees. The nearest major airport from Kolhapur is Mumbai Airport which is positioned approximately 400 kilometers from here.

By Rail: Kolhapur Railway Station known as ‘Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus’ falls on Pune-Miraj-Kolhapur section of the Central Railway. This train station is well connected with rest of the country via rail route. The major cities that can be directly accessed by daily or weekly trains from Kolhapur include Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Solapur, Ahmad Nagar, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Tirupati, Dhanbad, Ahmedabad, Gondia, Bhopal, Gwalior, Agra, Mathura, etc. Daily passenger shuttles also operate between Kolhapur and Miraj. By Bus: Kolhapur lies on National Highway No 4 that connects Mumbai and Bangalore. Mumbai is positioned about 400 kilometers to the north of Kolhapur which takes about 8 hours to reach by road while Bangalore is located about 610 kilometers to the south of Kolhapur which takes about 11 hours to get there. NH 4 also links Kolhapur with Pune which is placed roughly 230 km to its north. Reaching Pune from Kolhapur by roads takes about 4 hours of time. MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) buses are operated from Central Bus Stand of Kolhapur and you will get buses for Pune from here every half an hour. Buses for Mumbai are also available every hour. State Transport and Private A/C, Non-A/C, general, deluxe, super deluxe, sleeper, semi sleeper etc. buses ply from Kolhapur to various destinations such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Mumbai. Government buses charge between 180 and 240 INR for Mumbai while private buses charge around 200 to 350 INR. Direct buses even ply from Kolhapur to a number of destinations in south like Hubli, Belgaon, and Mangalore etc. and also to Nasik, Ahmedabad, Baroda and Surat.
