Lachung Hotels

Meaning a ‘small mountain’, the tiny little hamlet of Lachung lays in the North Sikkim District of the Indian state Sikkim and is quite close to the China border. Located about 125 km from the state capital Gangtok, Lachung lies at the point of convergence of the two tributaries- Lachen and Lachung of River Teesta.

The British writer and explorer, Joseph Dalton Hooker in his famous work, ‘the Himalayan Journal’ has referred to Lachung as the most picturesque village in Sikkim’. This is mostly because of the amazingly charming and elegant views that it offers to the travelers. Embellished with cascading little mountain brooks and breathtaking views of the mist clad mountains, Lachung is a haven for the ardent admirers of natural beauty.

The town is covered with snow for most of the time in the months of winter. The time between October and May is the beast time to give Lachung a try.
