By Air: Mangalore International Airport, earlier known by the title ‘Bajpe Airport’ situated approximately 140 kilometers away is the closest airport from Coorg. Launched in the year 1951 and upgraded as an international airport in 2006, this airport provides both domestic as well as international connectivity. Mangalore Airport happens to be the second airport of the state of Karnataka from where international flights ply to various foreign destinations. Some of the major airlines operational at this airport include Air India, Jet Airways, SpiceJet, Kingfisher Airlines, Air India Express and Saudi Arabian Airlines. Worth mentioning destinations connected to the Mangalore Airport via air include Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Goa, Chennai, Kozhikode, Kochi, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Bahrain, Kuwait, Sharjah, Muscat, Mecca and Medina. By Rail: The nearest railway head from Coorg is located at Mysore approximately 117 kilometers away. ‘Mysore Junction’ is the main railway station of the city from where daily trains are available for Bangalore. ‘Shatabdi Express’ is the fastest and the most convenient train to reach Chennai from Mysore that will reach you to Bangalore just in two hours and to Chennai roughly in 7 hours. K.S.R.T.C and other state transport buses of neighboring states link Coorg from all over Karnataka and surrounding regions, particularly from Mysore, Bangalore and Mangalore. Deluxe, Semi Deluxe, AC, Luxury, Non AC etc buses are available from various destinations of Karnataka to Coorg. They charge about 3 to 5 rupees per kilometer. Coorg is positioned about 125 km from Mysore, 140 km from Hassan, 160 km from Mangalore, 265 km from Bangalore etc.
