How To Reach Coimbatore

By Air: The Coimbatore district is furnished with its own airport. ‘The Coimbatore International Airport’, is situated at Peelamedu, approximately 10 km from the centre of the city. The airport is has two terminals. One of the two is used for departures and the other is used for arrivals. The Coimbatore Airport has a good connectivity and the city is very well linked with major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Calcutta, Madras, Calicut and Cochin through domestic airlines. International flights also depart from here and bridge Coimbatore with countries like Dubai, Bangkok, Kuwait, Doha, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Kuala Lumpur, Jeddah, Muscat, Singapore, Colombo, etc.
By Rail: The major railway base at Coimbatore is ‘Coimbatore Junction’. The trains running to and from here connect Coimbatore with many important India cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jaipur, Kanpur, Indore, Patna, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Trivandrum, Kochi, Calicut, Kanyakumari, Gorakhpur, Howrah, Jammu, etc. Apart from the main junction, the two important railway junctions of Coimbatore are; Podanur and Coimbatore North. Other smaller train stations include , Singanallur, Peelamedu, Perianaikanpalayam, Somanur, Irugur, Sulu and Madukkarai. Coimbatore Junction is regarded as the second highest revenue generating stations in south India after Chennai.

By Road: Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala state transport buses and other private buses run to and from Coimbatore and link it with many cities and towns of these three states. Three of the national highways; NH – 47, NH – 67 and NH – 209 pass through Coimbatore. Avinashi road, Trichy road, Satyamangalam road, Marudhamalai road, Mettupalayam road and Pallakad road are the six major roads that connect different parts of the city.
The entire road network of 635.32 kilo meters of Coimbatore is efficiently maintained by the city transport corporation. Gandhipuram is the town bus station. The five important bus stands of Coimbatore city include Gandhipuram bus stand, Singanallur Bus Stand, Thiruvalluvar or SETC Bus Stand, Ukkadam Bus Stand and Mettupalayam Road Bus stand. Nearly 800 intra city buses cover about 228 routs of Coimbatore. The vehicle and population ratio of Coimbatore marks vehicle ratio as higher.
